The Story...
Eastern Electric band leader, Nate Clendenen penned Back to Muhlenberg in the days following the passing of music icon John Prine, in early April from COVID-19 complications. It starts as an undeniable lament to his passing... and furthermore a lament to the passing of our old ways of life. "...Oh man this world it don't look the same / As it did last year, last month, or yesterday..." Later in the song the choruses shift to a more uplifting affirmation that in our shared personal separation from our friends and loved ones, from anyone, from even our own selves, that "...We are all together no matter how far..."
Eastern Electric brings a strong americana sound reminiscent of Jason Isbell, The Band, even Prine himself, and features stellar guest performances from several of the Mid-Atlantic's most celebrated independent artists - Joey Harkum (PASADENA), Julie Cymek (Sweet Leda), Ray Wroten (Bond & Bentley), Robert Mabe (Drymill Road), and the recording debut of visual artist Emily C. Dean.

The Pitch...
We are releasing our brand new single, Back to Muhlenberg exclusively here on our website. AND we are adding several bundling options of our extended music catalog at discounted prices. We are doing this for two reasons:
1. An attempt to offset our lost performance revenue. We rely on performing as our prime source of income to keep the band, and for some of us our lives, going. By this we mean things like studio time, instrument and equipment maintenance, licensing fees, taxes, bills... never mind food and shelter. The COVID pandemic has obviously taken our's and many other's careers out from under us. As life-long songwriters and musicians, not only are we all immediately driven to write, sing, and create our art about what is happening in the world, we feel even more a desire and obligation to bring it to you... and we need your help now more than ever to do it.
2. We certainly realize that we are not unique in this new found struggle. Which is why we are committed to doing what we can to raise funding for our fellow brothers and sisters around the world who are also feeling the pain and uncertainty of these trying times. We will be donating a portion of all proceeds from this release campaign to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
3. Our modest goal is to raise +/- $5,000. If we are able to do that, then we will be able to extend $2,000 to our business-related bills (ie: LLC licensing, taxes, production costs, etc), distribute $2,000 of funds directly to band members for their personal bills/expenses, and donate $1,000 to charity. Fund allocation will adjust proportionally to gross funds raised. The more we raise, the more we can put into the band and... the more we can donate.
